A group of Egyptian-Americans staged Saturday pro-democracy protest in front of the White House in Washington, D.C. Nearly 30 Egyptian-Americans who were wearing “Rabia” signed t-shirts, gathered in front of the White House. Protesters, carrying several banners, chanted slogans against Egyptian Defense Minister Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, who led July 3 coup that toppled President Mohammed Morsi, first democratically elected president in Egypt's history. “Hitler and Sisi are the same, only difference is names” the protestors yelled while waving the Egyptian flags and holding up yellow posters of “Rabia” sign. Head of Democracy and Human Rights for Egyptian-Americans, Akram Elzend, called for the return of democracy in Egypt and the end of the military coup. He also urged US President Barack Obama and other world leaders to name the incidents in Egypt as “a military coup”. On July 3, Egypt’s military chief and Defense Minister Gen. al-Sisi removed Morsi from office, naming the country’s top judge as interim president, suspending the constitution.
