President of Turkey's Visit Gains Special Significance, Qatari Ambassador Says
Doha - ArabToday

Qatar's Ambassador to Turkey Salem Mubarak Shafi Salem Al-Shafi said Monday that the visit of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Qatar comes in the context of continuous coordination and cooperation between the two sides.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the ambassador said that the visits reflected the high level of cooperation and harmony between the two sides. The ambassador highlighted the last meeting that took place between HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Recep Tayyip Erdogan on December 18 in the Second meeting of Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee as evidence of that.
Al Shafi said that tomorrow's meeting gains a special significance due to the regional and international developments, especially the arrival of the Donald Trump presidential administration in the US which has not decided its strategy regarding the threats in the Middle-East. The ambassador added that the visit will help reach a shared vision between the GCC and Turkey.
The ambassador also noted that Turkey has signed more than 30 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and agreements with the State of Qatar over the past two years. He added that the work is continuing to ensure implementation of those agreements.
The Turkish president will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation to discuss regional issues of joint interest. The ambassador stressed that the Syrian crisis will be the top the priority in the talks that will take place tomorrow.
The ambassador stressed on the importance of coordination between Qatar and the GCC with Turkey over the future of the region, given their influence internationally and regionally.
Al Shafi expressed his hope that the visit will be fruitful and serves the aspirations of the two peoples regarding the issues facing the region.
