Seoul - Yonhap

Police fired a water cannon Thursday to break up a downtown protest that called for better relations with North Korea, marking the first time the forceful means of crowd control has been used under the President Park Geun-hye administration. Thousands of people rallied in a plaza in front of Seoul Station, urging their government to resume all suspended reconciliation projects with North Korea. Organizers put the number of participants at about 5,000, while the police estimate there were some 3,500 protestors.
