PLO official, French consul discuss peace efforts

PLO Executive Committee member Hanan Ashrawi met here Wednesday with French Consul General Hervé Magro.

The two sides discussed the latest political developments and international action, including the French initiative on holding an international peace conference as well as preparations required.

They also tackled the anticipated report of the Quartet, scheduled to be released later this month within the framework of the Security Council meeting.

In order to have a fruitful conference, participating sides should have political will to take action and decisions aimed at ending the Israeli occupation, Ashrawi said.

Israel's official rejection of the initiative is an attempt to hinder the peace process and reflects the occupation's insistence to continue its crimes against the Palestinian people.
