The police have detained the pilot of an An-2, which had a hard landing earlier on Sunday, and who disappeared from the site near the Rostov region’s town of Shakhty. “According to the preliminary information, he did not have documents permitting a flight,” press service of the local police said. “He could not explain his escape from the site.” The accident occurred on Sunday morning. During the flight, the engine failed, and 500 metres before the runway, the plane made a hard landing, having destroyed an undercarriage and a wing, the police said. The pilot has not received any injuries. The police say, the pilot decided to check the plane, which had just arrived from a local aircraft service facility. The pilot bought the plane a year earlier.
