AICafe invite you on Saturday 31 August at 7.30 p.m for Palestinian-Israeli peace and negotiations with George Adel.
American brokered negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis recommenced several weeks ago, with almost no expectations from either side. Senior Israeli officials reiterate their opposition to an independent and sovereign Palestinian state while Israel continues to create facts on the ground via settlement construction, home demolitions and detentions, amongst others. Palestinian political parties and civil society groups express their opposition to renewed negotiations, which provide a dangerous illusion of work toward peace while Israel's occupation is actually strengthened.
With the accepted assumption that renewed political negotiations will go nowhere, what other options exist for reaching peace? How do these options fit into a changing Middle East, in particular with a possible American attack on Syria and the ongoing turmoil in Egypt? Join us to explore these important questions and more in this turning point of Middle East history.
George Adel is a leading Palestinian political and social activist, directly involved in formulating Palestinian national policy for national liberation and social justice.
Join to grapple with main issues facing Palestinians today!
