Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari met with Iran's New Ambassador to Islamabad Ali Reza Haqiqan to discuss the two countries' all-out ties, specially the latest conditions of a multi-billion-dollar pipeline project which is due to bring Iran's gas supplies to his nation. At the meeting, Zardari stressed the need for the promotion of Pakistan-Iran ties and early completion of the gas project. He said that relations between Iran and Pakistan are important for the regional stability. Further in the meeting, the two sides discussed the upcoming Iran-Pakistan-Afghanistan trilateral summit. Zardari underlined the need for the promotion of ties among the three countries, and said Pakistan is ready to attend the trilateral summit. He welcomed the new Iranian ambassador and wished him success in performing his diplomatic responsibilities during his stay in Pakistan. He said that the new envoy would also play his role in promotion of bilateral relationship. The new Iranian ambassador stressed that Iran and Pakistan should work for the promotion of bilateral trade and economic activities. He also called for a boost in energy cooperation, reminding that the two countries have common interest. The envoy said Tehran is ready to extend cooperation in every field. Regarding the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, the diplomat expressed the hope that the project will be completed according to the specified timeline, stressing that leaders of both countries are willing to implement the project as soon as possible.
