The Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz will visit Afghanistan on Sunday for a day-long visit to exchange views with the Afghan leadership on the regional situation, said an official press release. Pakistani authorities delayed the visit of the advisor to Afghanistan that was scheduled to be held on Saturday. The Foreign Office Spokesman, Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry said that it is the first ever high-level exchange between the two countries after the assumption of office by the present government. He further added that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif has extended an invitation to the President of Afghanistan to visit Pakistan and Mr. Sartaj Aziz will be carrying the formal invitation for the visit. He revealed that both countries enjoy bilateral trade amounting to USD 2.5 billion, adding, "We attach high importance to our bilateral relations with Afghanistan, which would be reviewed during the visit." The regional situation and issues of peace and stability will also be discussed during the visit, the press release added.
