Pakistani federal cabinet approves anti-terrorism bill

The Federal Cabinet of Pakistan approved an amended Anti-Terrorism Bill on Friday to further empowering the law enforcement agencies for better handling of terror-related cases. According to an official press release, the Cabinet approved the bill in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. The bill provided an effective mechanism to protect the witnesses in cases of terrorism and would be tabled before the parliament for approval. The PM expressed his satisfaction over the bill approved and decided to constitute a special committee to review the proposed bill for local bodies system in the federal capital. The Prime Minister also asked the federal government to extend all possible cooperation to southern Sindh provincial government to improve law and order situation in Karachi city as a paramilitary Rangers led operation was underway.
