
A two-day international conference on Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) role in regional stability will be hosted here by Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) in collaboration with Germany's Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF), capital city of Pakistan on August 28-29. According to an official press release, Minister for Planning and Development of Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal, SCO's Deputy Secretary General Mirzosharif Jalalov, in addition to scholars from Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Germany, Belgium, and other local and foreign dignitaries will participate in the conference. The conference is important for Pakistan's bid for a full membership at SCO. The recent visit of Pakistani Prime Minister to China has improved the trade and economic relationships with the neighbouring country and the development of Gwadar Port can become an energy and trade corridor for SCO countries.
