
Over 24 Yemeni soldiers killed and tens others injured in two separate suicide attacks that took place in Shabwah Governorate, east of the country, the Ministry of defense announced on Friday. "The attacks were carried out by members of Al-Qaeda organization," using two car-bombs that targeted a security center and a military checkpoint in Mayfaa area and Bab Fahsous station, ministry said in a press statement. Furthermore, violent armed confrontations took place between members of Yemeni police and army with a number of insurgents, who used machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades, local sources mentioned today, adding that the insurgents seized weapons, equipment, and three police cars, as well as kidnapping a number of soldiers.
