
Director of Information Department at the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Maha Mostafa Aqeel said the 43rd session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) will convene in Tashkent on Tuesday and Wednesday and will discuss as many as 109 resolutions pertaining to Palestine, Al Quds Al Sharif and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
In statements on Monday, Aqeel said seven resolutions will tackle the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the Arab-Israeli conflict which are top priorities for the organization.
Other resolutions will be relevant to the Golan Heights, solidarity with Lebanon, the Middle East peace process as well as the financial backing to the Palestinian people, she said.
OIC foreign ministers will also probe 54 political resolutions pertaining to the situation in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Afghanistan and the Central African Republic, she added.
Other resolutions will focus on terrorism combat, disarment, the humanitarian situation in Syria, Lebanon and Libya as well as the UN reform and UN Security Council expansion of membership, radicalism, disarmament and countering Islamophobia, Aqeel noted.
The second day of the CFM proceedings will witness the adoption of resolutions already approved at the preparatory meetings that were held at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah. The resolutions cover political, humanitarian and economic affairs as well as the OIC program up to 2025, in addition to the legal and organic matters and issues of information, science and technology, information technology, cultural and social affairs, women affairs, dialogue and outreach, with the meeting to wind up with the issuing of the “Tashkent Declaration”.
