US President Barack Obama and his Georgian opposite number Mikhail Saakashvili will meet in the White House on Monday, at 2 p.m. EST. This year marks the 20th anniversary since the establishment of US-Georgia diplomatic ties. The presidents will discuss further strengthening of bilateral strategic partnership and closer cooperation in the spheres of trade, tourism, energy, science, education, culture and security. During their first Oval Cabinet meeting, the US leader will emphasize military cooperation between the two allies, including Tbilisi’s participation in the Afghan mission. Barack Obama will also reaffirm Georgia’s territorial integrity and discuss the upcoming elections that will help Georgia along its way to becoming a fully-fledged democracy.
