North Korea announced that it would restore the emergency hotline with South Korea and proposed bilateral talks with officials from Seoul.
Pyongyang authorities shut down the emergency hotline at the height of tensions between the two neighbouring countries last March.
The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea issued a statement announcing that the hotline would be restored today afternoon – (NK Local Time).
