No concrete date for Putin’s meeting with Kim Jon-un

No concrete date and venue for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un have been agreed as of yet, Purin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.

"A lot of cities have been named as possible venues for such a meeting," he told journalists when asked whether Vladivostok in Russia’s Far East could possibly host such a meeting. "So far, no concrete date has been agreed taking into account Kim Jon-un’s and Putin’s schedules."

Putin said earlier the North Korean leader had been invited to pay a visit to Russia. He was expected to attend the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in early September. However, Kim’s visit has not yet been agreed. The Russian authorities keep on saying they are ready to receive the North Korean leader anytime he would find convenient.

Speaker of Russia’s Federation Council upper parliament house, Valentina Matviyenko said after her official visit to Pyongyang that Kim Jon-un has expressed readiness to visit Russia as soon as possible. Last week, Putin’s adviser Yuri Ushakov confirmed that a possible meeting between the Russian and North Korean leaders was being looked at.
