Israeli newspaper Maariv unveiled today a new settlement plan to be implemented soon by the Israeli government for the building of 1400 new housing units at the southern entrance of Haifa in the northern part of Palestinian territories occupied in 1948. The paper said the plan was endorsed by the Zionist Housing Committee for the building of the units on an area of 228 dunums. According to Radio Israel, the paper pointed out that small housing units will be built over 25% of the area "to address the severe shortage in the number of residential apartments", while about 21 dunums of the area will be allocated for public buildings and institutions.
