Myanmar's Union Parliament has been urged to approve ratification for Agreement on Privileges and Immunities of the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN), parliament sources said Wednesday.
Parliamentarians said under the agreement, Myanmar diplomats assigned to the ASEAN Secretariat will receive exemption and privileges while they are performing their duties.
The agreement was signed by foreign ministers of ASEAN member states including Myanmar on Oct. 25, 2009.
Among the 10 ASEAN member states, Myanmar, Malaysia and Laos have not ratified the agreement.
