The Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday the Turkish leadership is fully responsible for the current crisis in relations with Russia and Moscow does not see any indications that the situation could improve any time soon, Sputnik reported.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu claimed in a recent interview with Turkish television that there were some "positive changes" in Moscow's stance on the crisis.

"We believe that these claims are unfounded. We would like to emphasize again that the Turkish leadership is alone responsible for the current crisis," the ministry said in a statement.

"At this point, the normalization of bilateral relations is not on the discussion agenda," the ministry added.

Russian-Turkish relations deteriorated following the downing of the Russian Su-24 bomber by a Turkish F-16 fighter on November 24, 2015. In response to this "stab in the back," as it was described by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moscow imposed a number of restrictive measures on Turkey.

There have been no high-level contacts between the two countries following the November incident.
