Moscow investigators opened a criminal case over bribery against Stanislav Solovyov, former deputy chief for public order protection in the Ochakovo-Matveyevskaya district. Criminal proceedings were initiated during the inquiry into police negligence in the Matveyevsky market on July 27, when a detective was beaten up by traders. Meanwhile, a check is underway into possible corruption in police. The investigators said Solovyov had known about an illegal business in the Matveyevsky market in 2012. He forced the owner to regularly pay him in exchange for cover-up. The businessman paid for Solovyov's car repairs, and also passed him money. "He took a total of 180,000 roubles worth of bribes," Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass. Markin reminded that ten searches had been conducted within a negligence case against patrol service officers Vladimir Cherezov and Yuri Lunkov, and acting head of the Ochakovo-Matveyevskoye district police department Alexei Pravkin. Police searched offices of the market administration and a number of trade outlets. The SK said Pravkin had received a report on a crime in the Matveyevsky market on July 27, but failed to act on it properly. "Inspector Vladimir Cherezov and driver Yuri Lunkov who were at the scene of detection, did not help to stop illegal actions by Magomed Rasulov and his wife Khalimat, which enabled Magomed Rasulov to cause a serious head inquiry to a police detective and flee the scene," the SK said. Solovyov, Cherezov and Lunkov have been detained. Investigations are considering pre-trial restrictions for them.
