Scores of supporters of former Egyptian president Mohammad Morsi have gathered and started a protest in front of the Police Academy, raising placards showing the four-finger "Rabaa Salute" and chanting against the Interior Ministry and the armed forces. The protestors gathered in the parameters of the academy ahead of start of trial of Morsi and Muslim Brotherhood figures. According to Middle East News Agency (MENA), the protesters gathered in front of gate no, 7 and were criticizing both the trial and what they referred to as "a military coup on the elected civilian authority". Tight security is seen in the academy area in fear of clashes between Morsi's supporters and those in favor of his trial. There is also dense presence of Arab and foreign media to cover the trial, and the Health Ministry on its part stationed four ambulances at gate no. 8 to react swiftly in case of confrontations. In central Cairo, heavy security is monitoring all streets leading to Tahrir Square with armored vehicles and road blocks, and no traffic is allowed into the Square during the trial. In Giza, main streets and squares are so far calm ahead of the trial, with the army banning entry of Cairo University staff and students to Nahda Square. No vehicle traffic is allowed either, and tightened security is seen in all main areas in fear of violence.
