Nearly 300 supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi who were besieged in Fath Mosque in the Cairo district of Ramses could get out of the mosque thanks to the crowd who came for noon prayer. No official went to the mosque to save the Morsi supporters who had been besieged there since last night. Prior to the noon prayer, therefore, the imam called the people and the tradesmen around to help those who were besieged in the mosque to get out safely. Following the noon call to prayer, a group of supporters from Rab'a el-Adaweya Square as well as the crowd who came for noon prayer helped them out of the mosque. “We have been trapped inside for nearly two hours now,” Osama Abu al-Hassan told Anadolu Agency over the phone at night. “Some thugs are standing outside wielding weapons and threatening us,” he added. “We can see them through the windows of the mosque. We appeal for help and pray to Allah to save us and our women and children."
