The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) said Friday more than 4 thousand Syrian children had to flee their country and took refuge at neighboring countries without their parents. Spokesperson Marixie Mercado noted the figure may be more than that since they are able to register the legal passes. She said there are 1,698 Syrian kids in Lebanon and most of them are working at agricultural fields in Beqaa Valley while there are 1,170 children in Jordan and they are housed at Zatari Camp. Spokesperson stated since those children are not guarded by their parents they can be subjected to abuses. Mercado said children have recounted horrible stories how their parents were killed, adding that "There are many reason for them to escape Syria alone." She said the UNICEF put forward a lot effort with collaboration of other groups to account every child and put them under protection.
