Nairobi - XINHUA

Kenya's investigators are expected to retrieve more bodies from the Westgate shopping mall which was stormed by terrorists on Sept. 21 leaving over 60 people dead and dozens others injured. Security officials close to the investigators told Xinhua on Wednesday that there are still more bodies trapped in the rubble, adding that search for the bodies might take another one or weeks to dig through the debris. "We retrieved two bodies of the Kenya Deference Force (KDF) soldiers that were killed during the four-day siege and a gun on Tuesday. Search is still underway and some bodies are still in the site," the security official who sought anonymity told Xinhua. "The retrieval of more bodies still trapped in the site have been hampered by the amount of decries. This task will take us longer," he added, noting that some limbs have been discovered scattered across the mall. However, the security officer did not say whether the gun which was recovered from the rubble belonged to terrorists who might have been killed in the crossfire or the slain soldiers whose bodies were recovered on Tuesday. "If the gun which was discovered was not used by terrorists, then it must belong to either soldiers or the police officers who died during the siege," he said. "One of the bodies was severely burnt but his boots and lower part of the body were found intact," he said. According to the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), the number of unaccounted people reported after the attack on a shopping mall in Kenya has reduced to 39.
