The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, MOHRE, and the Dubai Economic Council, DED, held talks recently to host the "National productivity Forum" on May 2nd under the patronage of Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, in Dubai.

The Forum will be held following an agreement between the both ends represented by Dr. Omar Al-Nuaimi, MOHRE Assistant Undersecretary for Policy and Strategy, and Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Faris, Assistant Secretary General for the Economic Affairs at the DED, during a special ceremony held at the ministry in Dubai attended by several officials.

"We tie with Dubai Economic Council as an advisory party specifically in economic development areas, which is part of our movement towards generating labour market studies via survey research mechanisms, to promote our strategy towards increasing citizens’ participation within the private sector," Al-Nuaimi, said.

Adding that the forum is the first-of-its-kind in the UAE and region sets to discuss various critical issues in productivity domain, such as productivity on macroeconomic level, enterprise productivity determinants, structural transformation and productivity, the role of female labour in productivity, in addition to the labour regulations and their implications for productivity.

Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Faris said that the event will also demonstrate the best practices worldwide in productivity, aiming at drawing lessons and proposing policies to raise the productivity to the extent that contribute significantly to the international competitiveness of the UAE.

"There has been ongoing cooperation between the Dubai Economic Council and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation for years. We’ve implemented several research projects and organized numerous events to develop the labour market and provide a stimulating work environment for the citizens. The Council follows the directives of the wise leadership to promote institutional integration with various government entities," he said.

"Prompt economies, notably Japan, Germany, the United States, South Korea and others were able to achieve quality breakthroughs in areas of production, exports, growth and maintain top position globally, all through productivity support assurance and an ongoing quest to raise workers’ productivity."

Al-Faris wished the forum will reach a number of recommendations and proposals to provide references for decision-making parties in the public and private sectors to take on policies and plans to raise the productivity levels across the nation.
