The Minister of Human Rights
Rabat - Arab Today

The Minister of Human Rights, Mostafa Ramid, has verbally informed Head of Government Saad Eddine El Othmani of his decision to resign from the government no later than October, during the beginning of the political return, according to Akhbar Alyaoum.

After rumors about the resignation of El Othmani, the Moroccan daily announced in its August 16 edition that Ramid could also leave the government very soon.

In an interview with the daily, the minister said, “Since you’ve asked such question, I want express all my solidarity with Saad Eddine El Othmani and his Government and  those who are committed to the stability and development of our country.”

Ramid did not explicitly deny the speculations, saying that “to be part of the government or not is only a detail.”

For Ramid, what is important is that officials respect their commitments and resign from their positions if they can no longer carry out their tasks effectively.

“Today, as a minister, I perform my tasks with a clear conscience. No one but God  could know what might happen in the future,” said Ramid.

This is not the first time Ramid has been speculated to leave the government. The former lawyer allegedly threatened to leave Abdelilah Benkirane’s government three times while Minister of Justice.

Ramid’s announcement came almost 20 days after King Mohammed VI’s Throne Day speech, in which he recognized that many of the ties between the state to its citizens are fragile, particularly when the government goes out of its way to keep the public in the dark
