Islamabad - KUNA

At least two people were killed and 24 others were wounded when militants attacked the train these people were travelling on in the southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan on Friday. The Jaffar Express train that started its journey from the provincial capital Quetta of Balochistan towards Rawalipindi city of Punjab province was attacked by number of rockets in the Dozan area near Machh Town in Balochistan's Bolan district. A local government official, Zubair Kurd said " we have taken two dead bodies and 24 injured to the hospital, the condition of most of the injured was critical because of excessive bleeding." According to police, the attackers were hiding in the mountains and opened gun fire followed by firing at least three rockets at the train. A number of people including women and children were among the causalities. The attackers managed to escape the scene immediately after the attack in the mountains and security forces have launched a search operation for the culprits. An additional force of the Frontier Corps (FC) and Levies had reached the area to join the search operation for the suspected militants. The injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital where the death toll is feared to rise. Earlier, an attack on a passenger bus near Mach Town killed at least eleven civilians and two security men who were going to their hometowns in Punjab province for the religious festival of Eid Al Fitr.
