A group of masked extremists stormed the polling station in Sveti Sava elementary school in Kosovska Mitrovica, just before 5 p.m. (1600 GMT) on Sunday, Serbian National Television (RTS) reported. More than 10 attackers broke the voting boxes and harassed the election staff before they were dispersed by police with the help of tear gas. The RTS said the attackers are members of Serbian extreme right-wing groups which oppose the decision of the Serbian government to ask Kosovo Serbs to participate in the local elections. Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008, but Belgrade does not recognize the secession.
