Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak will lead the Malaysian delegation to the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Malaysian Foreign Ministry announced Friday. Najib is scheduled to deliver Malaysia's National Statement at the General Debate and also expected to deliver a statement at the High Level Meeting of the General Assembly on Nuclear Disarmament. The Foreign Ministry said Malaysia will work with other United Nations' members to support efforts towards achieving the objectives under this year's theme "The Post-2015 Development Agenda: Setting The Stage". "Malaysia will also continue to support the central role of the United Nations as the most constructive multilateral platform towards maintaining international peace and security." "To this end, Malaysia remains committed to working together with the international community to explore avenues to address various issues at the United Nations," the statement read. The Foreign Ministry said Najib will also take the opportunity to lobby for support for Malaysia's candidature of the non- permanent membership to the United Nations Security Council for the term 2015-2016.
