Malawian President Joyce Banda named a new cabinet on Tuesday after dissolving the previous one last week amid fraud and corruption allegations. President Banda's new cabinet has left out Finance Minister Ken Lipenga and Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Ralph Kasambara. The Malawian leader has also brought in some new faces in her new cabinet, among them non-politicians. Maxwell Mkwezalamba was named new finance minister and Fahad Assan new justice minister, who once served as the country's attorney. Since September, there have been multiple arrests of government officials at the Treasury, Accountant General and the Office of the President and Cabinet, who were allegedly involved in a fraud scandal of millions of dollars. Before sacking the cabinet on Thursday, President Banda had been facing the pressure to fire the finance minister to pave way for investigations.
