Manama - Arab Today

Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) Chief Executive Officer Osama bin Abdulla Al-Absi today received an International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation led by Mission Chief Bikas Joshi.

He briefed the IMF delegation on Bahrain’s labour market-related economic indicators. He pointed out the tangible increase in work permits which, he said, reflected the strength of the national economy and its ability to withstand challenges and generate work opportunities.
He stressed the crucial LMRA-led role in regulating relations between the production parties and providing high-standard services which contribute to revitalizing the national economy, energizing the trade sector and protecting the labour market. He stressed Bahrain’s keenness on constantly developing and reviewing legislations as part of strenuous efforts to enhance the labour market and protect the rights of both employers and employees. The IMF delegation commended the LMRA efforts to improve the labour market, streamline work permit issuance procedures which would bolster Bahrain’s investment attractiveness and protect workers’ rights.
