Beirut - Upi

A rocket aimed at Israel has fueled concern turmoil in Syria could spill over to Lebanon, Lebanese officials said. Lebanese military officials say they're trying to determine who fired a Katyusha rocket from south Lebanon toward Israel during the weekend. A Lebanese woman was seriously injured when the the rocket fell short and struck her home. Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt warned against sending what he called "a message of rockets" at the expense of Lebanon's stability, The (Beirut) Daily Star reported Tuesday. "Yesterday, we received a message of rockets which is a dangerous message. It could be a message from neighbors [Syria] to France on Lebanese territory at the expense of Lebanon's stability and at the expense of the south and all Lebanon," Jumblatt said Monday. Hezbollah's March 8 alliance, which dominates the current government, supports Syrian President Bashar Assad, while the opposition coalition led by former Prime Minister Saad Hariri's Future Movement openly backs the Syrian uprising against Assad. Syria and Hezbollah have denied French accusations they were behind an attack last week in Lebanon that wounded five French soldiers from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, the newspaper said.
