
Lebanese interior minister Marwan Charbel rejected Monday what he called "autonomous security" measures carried out by some parties "which know negative consequences" of these acts. Hezbollah is carrying out tight security measures in southern Beirut following an explosion last month that killed scores of people and injured hundreds others. Charbel hoped the "autonomous security phenomenon" ended soon and that municipality police carry out larger role in preventive security. the autonomous security "means division of the country," he said. KUNA correspondent saw some municipalities in Mount Lebanon and Western Bekaa have already implemented security measures.
