Beirut - QNA

Lebanese President General Michel Suleiman affirmed Lebanon's commitment to UN resolution 1701 and duty to cooperate with the UNIFIL, condemning the attack against the French forces a few days ago and confirming the intention to discover perpetrators and refer them to justice. He also hoped "the Holy Month of Ramadan to be the month of national reconciliation in which coexistence is strengthened because dialogue is a necessity to avoid clashes and strengthen stability." Suleiman remarks came during a celebration in Fayadieh to mark the Army''s Day. Suleiman stressed on "regaining the Lebanese territories by all possible legitimate means," pointing out that they have to work on determining and protecting the maritime borders and preserving the Lebanese rights in the regional waters. He also called for "more precise representation framework through adopting a fair modern new election law that stresses the democratic choice," confirming that proportionality might be one of the choices that the Lebanese would agree upon.
