
Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in separate meetings with his Lebanese, Pakistani, Omani and Algerian counterparts discussed bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments. Larijani met his counterparts on the sidelines of the 129th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, on Tuesday. During the meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri in Geneva today, the Iranian parliament speaker described Lebanon as a friendly and brotherly state, and said, “The two nations of Iran and Lebanon are close to each other on different topics.” Berri, for his part, underlined the need for the further expansion of Iran-Lebanon ties and also highlighted the importance of Iran in settling regional disputes. “Resolving the regional and security problems, specially the issue of Palestine tops our priority,” he continued. Also today, the Iranian parliament speaker discussed bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments in separate meetings with his Pakistani, Algerian and Omani counterparts Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Abdel Qader bin Saleh and Khalid bin Hilal bin Nasser al-Ma’awali in Geneva as well. Larijani is in Geneva to take part in the 129th IPU Assembly. The 129th IPU Assembly opened on October 7 and it will last until October 9 in Geneva. The IPU Assembly is the principal statutory body that expresses the views of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on political issues. It brings together lawmakers to study international problems and make recommendations for action. ?
