The Kuwaiti Embassy in Jordan resumed its annual Ramadan tradition and started an aid campaign on Monday, which involved distribution of aid supplies to benefit 1,250 Jordanian families across the country. Ambassador Dr. Hamad Al-Duaij told KUNA the supplies are donated by the Kuwaiti people and distributed in cooperation with accredited Jordanian charitable institutions. The supplies are distributed with the help of 80 charities, "so that we reach those in need in different parts of the kingdom", he said. The diplomat said the campaign lasts a week and added it coincides with other charitable events and efforts by other Kuwaiti state and public bodies, honoring the calls by the state's leadership, and particularly that of His Highness the Amir, to provide support for families in need throughout this holy month. There is an added need for support, he said, in view of the influx of Syrians who fled the ongoing warfare in the neighboring country. Such efforts as those of Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Social Reform Society, International Islamic Charitable Organization, and of individual philanthropists and groups all seek to realize the Kuwaiti tradition of solidarity with fellow Muslims and the momentum of such effort grows from year to year, Al-Duaij noted. The representatives of Jordanian charities involved in this campaign meanwhile praised this annual gesture and stressed this is a humanitarian as well as Islamic duty towards families in need.
