Kuwait emir congratulates German Chancellor Merkel

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah congratulated in a cable on Sunday German Chancellor Angela Merkel after winning a third term in national elections, expressing wishes for further prosperity for Germany. His Highness the Amir also expressed wishes to bolster bilateral relations and to best serve the interests of both nations. His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah also sent similar cables to Merkel. Early exit polls estimate that Merkel's conservative Christian Democratic Union party received over 42 percent of the vote, outpacing the rival Social Democratic Party's 26 percent.
