His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa today visited the British Household Cavalry Regiment (HCMR), which is considered as one of most iconic regiments of the British Army, dating back to 1660.HM the King was welcomed on arrival by British Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Personal Representative of Her Majesty the Queen to the County of Kent Lord Astor of Hever DL, London City general commander Major General Edward Smith, British Household Cavalry Regiment (HCMR) Commandant Colonel Badford and other senior (HCMR) officers.HM the King attended a (HMCR) parade and was briefed on the British Household Cavalry Regiment (HCMR) and was briefed on the British Household Cavalry Regiment which sits at the very heart of the rich cultural and military heritage of Britain.The British Household Cavalry Regiment (HCMR) is made up of the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals, which are considered the most senior regiments in the British Army, and are split between two different units to perform two different roles.The Household Cavalry Regiment (HCR), based in Windsor, has an operational role in armoured fighting vehicles which has seen them at the forefront of Britain's military operations.The British Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (HCMR), based in London, is equipped with horses and has the unique privilege to carry out mounted and dismounted ceremonial duties on state and royal occasions, including the Queen's birthday parade and state visits.HM King Hamad then attended a lunch banquet hosted British Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Personal Representative of Her Majesty the Queen to the County of Kent Lord Astor of Hever DL marking his visit to The British Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (HCMR).HM the King addressed the ceremony thanking Lord Astor and Colonel Badford, commending the outstanding standard of the British Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (HCMR).He paid tribute to (HCMR) soldiers for their efforts over more than two hundred years to maintain security and stability in the Arabian Gulf region.He announced that the Kingdom of Bahrain would celebrate next year the bicentennial anniversary of the bilateral relations bonding Bahrain and the UK, expressing the hope that the British Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (HCMR) the celebrations as guests of honour in Bahrain.HM King Hamad then wrote in the book of VIP visitors before exchanging commemorative gifts. Colonel Badford also delivered a speech thanking HM the King for his visit. He also presented HM the King with a commemorative gift marking his visit to the British Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (HCMR).
