Kazakhstan welcomes the preliminary results of the presidential election in Kyrgyzstan and respects the choice of the Kyrgyz people, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said Tuesday in a statement. The election was conducted in an atmosphere of peace and transparency, and allowed the people to express their free will, said the statement. "We treat the choice of the brotherly nation with respect and will consistently support efforts aimed at strengthening the political and economic stability and ensuring the democratic development of Kyrgyzstan," it added. According to the preliminary results announced by the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan, incumbent Prime Minister Almazbek Atambayev won with over 60 percent of the votes.
