Special Coordinator of the OPCW-UN Joint Mission on eliminating Syria's chemical weapons program, Sigrid Kaag, described the Syrian government's cooperation with the mission as "constructive", stressing that fulfilling the deadline identified by the end of next June for eliminating the chemical weapons of Syria could be accomplished. the UN Website quoted Kaag as saying in a press conference held Wednesday following a closed consultative session "We should remember that Syria is in a state of war and the security situation is volatile." Kaag pointed out to the latest logistic challenges delaying the arrival of the required equipment which must be brought from different countries, "as the roads of some are blocked by snow." "We talked about the security challenges and our prospective view… The Security Council expressed collective expectations regarding the continuation of progress, as the fulfillment of the deadline will be achieved," she pointed out.
