Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh discussed with Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, the patron of the UNFPA and the Danish Minister for Development Cooperation Christian Bach, the relations between the two countries as well as cooperation between Jordan and the UNFPA. The two sides highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Denmark as well as their keenness to forge closer cooperation in various fields. The meeting also dealt with the condition of Syrian refugees currently in Jordan, mainly the women and children, who form a majority of these refugees in the Kingdom, in addition to services being provided to them by Jordan. Judeh said Jordan will continue to host these refugees and provide them with services, and expressed appreciation for Denmark’s support in this regard. The minister also stressed the need to continue the cooperation between Jordan and the UNFPA to serve the refugees and provide them with health care. Judeh pointed to the burden being shouldered by Jordan as a result of hosting hundreds of thousands of refugees despite the economic hardships that the Kingdom is facing. He called for providing further aid to Jordan to enable it to continue playing its humanitarian role towards the refugees. Princess Mary voiced her appreciation for Jordan’s role in serving the Syrian refugees, adding that Denmark was keen to support Jordan so that it can continue this role.
