Tunis - Qna

Tunisia's interim president Fouad Mebazaa met Tuesday with Jordan''s Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh at Carthage Palace to discuss Jordanian-Tunisian ties and developments in the region. During the talks, the two sides emphasised the deep relations between the two Arab countries and agreed to continue coordination and consultation "to serve their common goals and interests." Judeh, on his first visit to the North African country after the revolution, earlier agreed with Prime Minister Beji Caid Essebsi to increase economic cooperation, raise the volume of bilateral trade and open new channels for businessmen in the two countries. He briefed the Tunisian premier on Jordan''s political and socio-economic reforms and expressed hope that Tunisia, which, he said, had a special status in Jordan, would move into a new era to achieve a better future for its people. Judeh also discussed with Tunisian counterpart, Mahmoud Mouldi El Kafi, "a common interest to build on existing relations", and agreed to keep political coordination and enhance tourism, economic, trade and medical cooperation as well preparations for convening the Higher Jordanian-Tunisia Committee in the next stage to sign and put into force a number of agreements.
