AMMAN - Arab Today

King Abdullah II of Jordan received the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, on Monday to discuss means of boosting bilateral cooperation after Jordan and Antigua and Barbuda signed a statement last month establishing mutual diplomatic relations.

According to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, King Abdullah said he appreciated the Caribbean nation's support for Jordan's candidacy to the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO, Executive Council in elections due to be held next month.

He also expressed Jordan's sympathy for the victims of Hurricane Irma, which recently struck Antigua and Barbuda and other Caribbean nations.

Also at the meeting, they discussed political developments in the Middle East and the global fight against terrorism.
