Japan's emperor treated for post-surgery fluid buildup

Japan's Emperor has received treatment to remove fluid from his chest following heart bypass surgery last month. Japan's Emperor Akihito was treated on Wednesday. He had been released from the University of Tokyo hospital on Sunday after bypass surgery 15 days earlier, according to Japan's (NHK WORLD) website. The Imperial Household Agency says the Emperor had not been eating as well as expected and was experiencing shortness of breath while walking. Doctors found a slight increase in the buildup of fluid in his chest in an X-ray on Tuesday. The Emperor arrived at the Imperial Household Hospital on Wednesday morning. He underwent suction to remove the fluid with local anesthesia. Doctors say the procedure is not unusual after bypass surgery.
