Israel carried out wide-scale drill on Thursday to prepare densely-populated cities and towns to cope with prospected major war, according to Israel Radio. The radio said the exercise was intended to deal with possible missile attacks, indicating that sirens blared in several major towns and cities.Teams will evacuate persons, presumably wounded in attacks on a hospital and a school. The maneuver, targeting in particular the greater Tel Aviv region, is held amid various reports forecasting an Israeli or western attack on Iran.Meanwhile, Haaretz said in a highlighted report today that the drill came against the backdrop of a fiery debate in Israel about a possible attack on Iran.As part of Thursday's Israel Defense Forces drill, sirens went off around central Israel at 10:05 a.m. for 90 seconds. Moreover, evacuation and absorption centers are due to open in the central Israeli city of Holon and temporary centers in Holon and Bat Yam will open in order to hand out gas masks. Moreover, Haaretz reported on Wednesday that the Israel Air Force recently conducted comprehensive drills on long-range attacks at the NATO base in Italy. The drill included most of the aviation components that are likely to take part in future long-range attacking missions: combat squadrons, aerial refueling and air monitoring stations.
