Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, TRA Deputy Director-General for the Telecommunications Sector, has received a high-level delegation from the Republic of Ireland.

The delegation was headed by Charles Flanagan, Ireland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and included Sarah Kavanagh, Special Advisor to Flanagan, Ciaran Madden, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Ireland Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and a group of advisors and directors of major companies in the ICT business sector.

From the TRA side, Salem Al Housani, Director of Development Department, Saif Bin Ghelaita, Director of Technology Development Affairs and Omar Mohammed Al Mahmoud, Acting CEO of the ICT Fund, attended the meeting.

This visit comes in the context of strengthening collaboration prospects and exchanging experiences in the ICT field, as well as presenting innovative solutions in the Internet of Things, IoT, information security, cloud computing, data analytics, customer experience management, e-government, e-commerce, digital solutions and smart city technologies.

Commenting on the visit, Al Mesmar said, "We are very pleased with the visit of Minister Flanagan and his delegation. We look forward to strengthening the partnership and collaboration with the Republic of Ireland in all matters related to the development of the ICT sector in both countries. This visit has allowed us to inform the Irish Delegation about the great steps achieved in the ICT sector in the UAE, including the constant efforts to develop the infrastructure and transition to the Internet Protocol 6.0, IPV6. We have also showed the transformation to smart government and the use of artificial intelligence in achieving the vision of the UAE government, which aims to employ all the capacities for the service and happiness of humankind."

The Irish delegation expressed their deepest admiration for the extent of developments in the UAE's ICT sector, including the development of an infrastructure capable of adapting to future requirements.
