
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki will embark next week on a visit to Washington at an official invitation by US President Barack Obama, information advisor of the the Iraqi premier Ali Al Musawi announced. In a statement he gave today, Al Musawi denied reports that washington has declined to receive Al Maliki during the past period, but confirmed that the Iraqi Prime Minister will meet with Obama to discuss a host of issues of interest to both countries. Arab newspapers have quoted an informed source as saying the the US administration turned down a request by the Iraqi Prime Minister to meet with President Obama in New York on the sidelines of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.
