The Iraqi Interior Ministry of Interior has denied some media reports published on the death of a detainee in prison noting that he committed suicide by his clothes. The ministry said in a statement issued here Sunday that "the victim named Kazim Menshid, and the other detainees held at the disposal of the Directorate of Muthanna province, exchange charges which led to a brawl which resulted in the admittance of the other person into hospital after being wounded by Kazim. The statement called upon all the satellite channels and media organs to authentize their official sources in dealing with the news the matter would stir any strife among the people of Iraq. Meanwhile at least 10 people were killed Sunday in two separate bombings in Baghdad, police said. The first bombing occurred in a marketplace in the area of al-Shurga in central Baghdad, the police source said adding that the second bomb went off in the capital city''s Jameela district. There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the bombings. Iraqi authorities have tightened security across the country for the Muslim festival Eid al-Adha that began Sunday. Violence in Iraq had steadily dropped after Sunni-Shiite bloodshed peaked in 2006. But in recent months, bombings and attacks have again become an almost daily event.
