The government of Iraq's Kurdistan province welcomed Monday the opening of a consulate of the State of Kuwait in the provincial capital, Irbil. "The government of (Iraq's) Kurdistan province welcomes the opening of the consulate of the State of Kuwait in the province, and believe it is a good and positive step that will pave way for cooperation in many domains," Falah Mustafa, head of the Foreign Relations Department at the government, told KUNA. He said the consulate would contribute to exchange of visits, and promotion of economic, cultural and political relations. Mustafa said the government was awaiting the visit of Kuwait's Ambassador to Iraq to discuss technical details of the opening of the consulate. The Secretariat of the Iraqi cabinet instructed the Foreign Ministry yesterday to take necessary measures to open the consulate in Irbil, and reopen Kuwait's consulate in Basra.
