Iran's Interior minister leaves for Islamabad

Iranian Interior Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar left Tehran for Islamabad at the head of a delegation on Wednesday.According to the Interior Ministry's public relations office, Najjar is due to attend meetings with senior Pakistani officials during his two-day trip.The two sides are due to discuss an array of bilateral and regional issues, including expansion of economic cooperation and boosting and facilitating exchanges between the two countries' neighboring provinces. During the visit, the two sides would sign a security pact, an Iranian deputy interior minister told FNA earlier this week. The Iranian Interior Minister is accompanied by the heads of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Crisis Management Organization, Imam Khomeini Relief Committee and the Islamic Revolution Housing Foundation. Yet, the main goal of the visit reportedly is the distribution of Iran's humanitarian aids among the flood-hit people of Pakistan's Sindh and Baluchistan provinces. Iran's Ambassador to Pakistan Mashaallah Shakeri had earlier informed of Najjar's impending visit to Pakistan. The envoy made the announcement during a meeting with Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik last week. Iran has, thus far, sent several humanitarian aid cargos to the flood-hit population in neighboring Pakistan.
