Iranian FM to world powers: Using force cannot bring out success in talks

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underscored Iran's willingness to play a win-win game with the world powers, and said no success will be achieved by using force. Zarif told reporters in Tehran on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always announced that it is in favors a win-win game. “No party can end the talks in its favor by force or through pressure,” he underlined. “This means that the other party should be aware of the win-win game and reach the understanding that the Iranian people have gained the peaceful nuclear technology through their own knowledge and wisdom. Iran’s concern will be removed only under condition that they such achievements be used transparently and openly in centers that are under supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency,” Zarif said. Iran and the world powers have held several rounds of talks on a range of issues, with the main focus being on Iran’s nuclear energy program. The two sides wrapped up their latest round of negotiations on April 6 in the Kazakh city of Almaty. An earlier meeting had been held in the city on February 26-27. The US, Israel and some of their allies claim that Iran is pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program, with Washington and the European Union using the unfounded allegation as a pretext to impose sanctions on Iran. Tehran strongly rejects the groundless claim over its nuclear activities, maintaining that as a committed signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it is entitled to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
